The Chelsea winger Florent Malouda has said that he is very much looking forward to leaving the club in January in order to start a new chapter in his career. The French winger has been frozen out of first-team action after deciding not to sign a new contract.

He has just six months left on his current contract, and the former Chelsea manager Roberto di Matteo decided not to include him in the first team due to the contractual situation.

Florent Malouda has been one of the best players at the club since his £ 13 million arrival from Lyon in 2007. He even managed to win the player’s player of the year award back in 2010. He has just six months left on his current contract, and the former Chelsea manager Roberto di Matteo decided not to include him in the first team due to the contractual situation.
Malouda came extremely close to leaving the club in the summer, but was unable to do so due to the excessive wage demands. A number of clubs like Lyon and the Brazilian club Santos were interested in him, but they all pulled out of the deal due to the transfer fees and the wages demanded by the player. He is currently running around £ 80,000 per week at Stamford Bridge. Due to the fact that he was not ready to drop his wage demands, clubs like Santos were unable to afford him.
He is, however, at the peak of his fitness levels according to his personal coach Stephane Renaud. In an interview given to France football, he has said that Malouda is very much eager to learn about the next chapter in his career. “He is in exceptional fitness, I can assure you. He does his job the best he can, working hard and having rest. He needed that after the last few seasons with 60 matches. The only problem is he doesn’t play. He has one year remaining on his contract,” said Renaud.
