FLORENT MALOUDA: CHELSEA CAREER EXAMINED

Florent Malouda had a successful career in the Premier League in the colours of Chelsea whom he joined in the summer of 2007. The 40-year-old signed for Chelsea from French giants Lyon. The Blues were said to have paid £13m to sign him from Lyon. Florent Malouda made his debut for Chelsea in the 2007 Community Shield loss to Manchester United. He was on target as Manchester United beat Chelsea on penalties after the two clubs had played out a 1-1 draw.


FlorentMalouda made his Premier League bow one week later in the 3-2 win over Birmingham City at Stamford Bridge. The Frenchman played 83 minutes of that game. Malouda started on the left side of the Chelsea and he was able to score on his Premier League debut.
The ex-French international scored the second Chelsea goal as the Blues made history by surpassing the Liverpool record of 63 games without defeat at home.
In his debut season at Chelsea, FlorentMalouda helped the club qualify for the Champions League final for the first time in their history. Malouda and Chelsea came up short in that final after they were beaten again by Manchester United on penalties. The two teams had played 1-1 at the end of extra time in Moscow. FlorentMalouda was still at the club when Chelsea reached another Champions League final. The Blues waited for four years to reach another final and this time, it ended in a positive way for the West London outfit. Chelsea qualified for the 2012 Champions League final in Munich and they had to go through the rigours of penalties once again to beat Bayern Munich to the much coveted trophy. At the end of his Chelsea career in 2013, Malouda had won one league title, three FA Cup titles and one Community Shield to add to the aforementioned Champions League trophy. He signed for Turkish club Trabzonspor on a free transfer after he was released by Chelsea in 2013.
