Legia must rise up to the occasion against Trabzonspor

Turkish giants Trabzonspor are sitting comfortably at the top of their group in the UEFA Europa League with seven points secured from three matches, two ahead of Italian powerhouse Lazio in second place as they await their arrival in Warsaw to take on struggling Legia Warszawa, knowing that a win could put them in pole position to go into the next round as group winners.

And that means Legia will have to play out of their skin if they have to contend with the Turkish, who have brought in several big name signings in the close season as they look to make a big splash in the UEFA Europa League with the aim of securing a spot in next season’s UEFA Champions League.

And that means Legia will have to play out of their skin if they have to contend with the Turkish, who have brought in several big name signings in the close season as they look to make a big splash in the UEFA Europa League with the aim of securing a spot in next season’s UEFA Champions League.

To be fair, Legia did have the best of the chances when the two sides met in match day three in Turkey and also held the ball more than their hosts but two goals early in the first half and late in the second half ensured Trabzonspor all three points, leaving their opponents to plan for a better result.

Legia currently lie at the bottom of the table with no wins from three, having lost all their matches and they know even if they win their last three matches, they will still have to look at the results of the other teams in the group to have any chance of qualifying to the next round.

And this desperation is something that Trabzonspor will use against them as they know Legia will have to come at them and they can sit back and absorb the pressure before hitting them on the break, which they have already showed, they are very capable of doing.

Things don’t look bright for Legia as they find their Europa League future hanging by a thread.
