Malouda is currently playing for Turkish club Trabzonspor after rejecting the opportunity to play for West Brom.
He has one year left on his deal, but is expected to sign a new contract in the next few months. The midfielder has earned a lot of money over his illustrious career, which has seen him play for likes of Lyon and Chelsea. He is also one of the most successful French players after having lifted numerous league titles and the Champions League with these two clubs. The 33-year-old had won the Chelsea player’s Player of the Year award in 2010.
However, there were rumours that he would be departing Trabzonspor after the end of the season after falling out with the club, but these rumours have been brushed aside.
“Florent Malouda today participated in the Board of Directors of Berrichonne de Chateauroux, his first club to which he has always remained very close. He will soon be integrated into the management board as his career develops. This return is a new, unique and rare gesture of a great player going back to where it started,” said a statement from the club after announcing the arrival of the midfielder as one of the board members. Since he has achieved a lot in the game already, Malouda may well decide to retire soon.
